Inmetco Fire
Brian Melcer, director of Lawrence County Public Safety, updates the news media on the fire at Inmetco in Ellwood City. The fire began shortly before nine on the loading dock of the battery reclamation building which has lithium, lead-acid and nickel-cadmium batteries for recycling. WPXI reported several firemen had to be treated for burns. No evacuations were necessary.

09/13/15 New Castle Ray Street Vacant House Fire
09/13/15 Flames erupted in a vacant house on South Ray Street in New Castle around 4 am today. When police arrived at the scene, they reported flames were through the roof. The house was totally destroyed.

09/11/15 Pulaski Twp Vets Rec Center On Route 208 Burns
Fire destroys the home of the Rebel Motorcycle Club early this morning. The club house, known as Lawrence Veterans Recreation Center, has been home to the local club for nearly 15 years. Several other buildings were also damaged in the fire that began around 9 am. No one was there at the time of the fire but a cat that was inside had not been immediately accounted for.

09/08/15 Two Die in Shenango Township House Fire
09/08/11 Kalle Convery and her 9 year-old daughter were killed in an early morning fire at their home on Mosser Drive, Shenango Township. Andrew Kelley and his 6 year-old son Quentin, were injured in the fire that completely damaged the home. The home was fully involved with fire when firemen arrived making it impossible to save the victims. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

03/03/15 Union Twp. House Severely Damaged By Fire
03/03/2015 Fire erupted on outside wall around 2 am. Fire quickly extinguished causing only smoke damage to the interior. Fire rekindled about 8:30 am causing extensive damage this time. Four adults and four children escaped the early morning fire after being awakened by a smoke alarm.

03/02/2015 Slippery Rock Township Semi vs Car Fatal
03/02/2015 At least one person has died in a semi-truck vs car accident on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County around 8 o’clock this morning. The accident occurred in the westbound lanes between Fox Road and Young Road.
Initial reports stated that two people were entrapped in the vehicle, one being unresponsive. One person was flown by medical helicopter, the other was deceased in the vehicle. The truck driver was apparently unhurt. Traffic was able to proceed in one lane alternately. New Castle State Police are investigating. 

Slippery Rock Township Home Nearly Destroyed By Fire
At least two people are being helped by the Red Cross after fire nearly destroys their home. Fire departments were called around 9:30 am to the double-wide modular home which was totally in flames when they arrived. Everyone escaped the fire which took nearly two hours to extinguish. An eight and 1/2 minute unedited video is now available on KDSTV.com.

New Castle Firefighters Rescue Woman From Fire
New Castle Firefighters rescue a woman from her burning home. Several dogs and cats were also rescued. We talked with a neighbor and several firemen who say they were doing what they were trained to do. The woman was in critical condition in a Pittsburgh hospital.

01/14/15 D.A. Lamancusa Press Conf. on Tanner Arraignment
Brian Tanner, former Shenango Township secretary / treasurer, was arraigned this morning on theft and forgery charges in front of District Justice David Rishel. Tanner plead not guilty and was released on $10,000 bond. District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa talked about the investigation at a press conference this morning and what led to the charges being filed.

01/11/15 Wayne Township Kolch Lane House Fire
01/11/15 The Kolch family was not at home when fire erupted in their two-story wood frame home on Kolch Lane, Wayne Township. Fire departments laid nearly one half mile of hose to get water to the fire. According to Wes Cunningham, Wayne Twp. Fire Chief, the home was heavily damaged and one dog perished in the fire. No other injuries were reported.
