Fire breaks out at a home on the city’s lower east side around 7 p.m. this evening. The occupied home located at 306 Pine Street is located in the area that has seen its share of arson fires in the past. The fire started on the back porch area of the home while the occupants were at home. According to neighbors, the family moved in approx. 2 weeks ago and could have as many as 5 children, along with the family dog, all of whom escaped the fire. Additional crews were called in on overtime to help fight the fire which spread to the second story of the house, causing extensive damage to the structure. The fire investigator for the New Castle Police, officer Vigianno, was called in to investigate. No injuries were reported. Crews were at the scene for just over an hour.
