Frew Mill Road
Slippery Rock Township
Lawrence County
Details:
08/09/11 It was just shortly after 8 am this morning when Spencer McCosby was at a friends house on Frew Mill Road and was watching a Lawrence County ACTS bus back out of the driveway after picking up a special needs child, 16 year-old Logan Fedrizzi on her way to a camp outing. As the bus attempted to back onto the highway, the driver of a SUV traveling at an apparent high rate of speed, crested the top of the hill and  lost control, striking the bus in the rear. According to bus monitor, 25 year-old Kristen Oscitan of Wampum, the out of control vehicle may have rolled over as many as six times before coming to rest on its roof. The driver of the passenger vehicle, who was not wearing a seat belt, was able to extricate himself from the vehicle and was ambulatory at the scene. Oscitan and an 18 year-old special needs man, Michael Jones, who was also on the bus, were not injured. The driver of the bus, 73 year-old Jerome Hasson, was transported with minor injury to Jameson Hospital. Logan Fedrizzi was eventually also taken to Jameson Hospital for an evaluation. According to New Castle State Police, 21 year-old Cody Domhoff of New Castle, driving the 2000 Montero that hit the bus, was also taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital. Domhoff is facing careless driving charges to be issued by New Castle State Police. All occupants of the ACTS bus were wearing their seat belts. Members of the Slippery Rock Township Fire Department, Lawrence County, assisted at the scene and provided traffic control. Medevac Ambulance Service personnel provided medical attention at the scene and transported the victims. Video and story by Joe Sobczak.
