8/27/11 Truck Rolls Over Spilling Tar on Hermitage Street

Details
Date and Time:  8/27/2011    Location:
E. State Street at Kerrwood
Hermitage, Pennsylvania
Mercer County
Details:
08/27/11 A truck carrying a non-hazardous water-based tar used as a driveway sealer, rolled over and spilled part of its load onto E. State in Hermitage around 7:30 am this morning. The accident happened at the intersection of Kerrwood Avenue near Kraynak’s. The tar traveled down E. State Street for several hundred feet, approaching a storm drain. Quick work by Hermitage Police, fire and haz-mat workers using boons and oil-dry, kept most of the tar from entering the drain. Both west bound lanes of E. State Street were closed while workers cleaned up the spill. The driver of the truck was not injured.
