Fire broke out in a two-story rural brick home just after 1:30 pm this date. Fire Chief Mark Sutherland told me the fire started in the kitchen and soon spread to the second floor. When they arrived on the scene, smoke was coming from all the eaves around the home. Once it got into the attac, it was able to spread accross the second story, completely destroying it. The floor collapse on the first floor ceiling, causing it to come down, causing major damage to the first floor. The fire did not spread to the attached garage. Several dogs were running around the home and one was heard barking inside. When firemen were able to search for the dog, he was not immediately found and it is not known if the dog made it out on his own. Southerland tells us he believes the next door neighbor is the owner and people residing in the house are tennants. He did not know how many people were in the house at the time of the fire but believes that the person who was there has to go to the neighbors to report the fire. Southerland describes the damage as extensive.
