A New Castle Public Works snowplow that was removing snow on Stanton Avenue, caught a metal plate covering a construction hole, pushing it aside and then falling into the hole. A private construction company was helping Columbia Gas install new lines on Rose Ave. and had installed the plate to cover the opening in the road. A large wrecker lifted the rear wheel from the hole, the plate pushed back into place and the truck driven off. It is not known if the driver was injured. The accident which happened around 4 a.m. is being investigated by New Castle City Police.
