Just after 2:30 am this date, fire broke out in a two and one-half story wood frame home in the 500 block of W. Madison Ave. in the Mahoningtown section of New Castle. A neighbor reported flames shooting from a second story window. Firemen arriving on the scene found the home fully involved with flames and called in a second alarm. Fire chief tells us that a neighbor said the tennants had moved out about a week ago. It took firemen about 1 hour to bring the fire under control.
