06/27/09 4 Rescued From Beaver River in Taylor Twp

06/27/09 Shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday evening, L.E.O.C. received a call concerning four individuals who had been in a canoe that had capsized on the Beaver River in Taylor Township. The area was approximately 1/2 mile north of the Reliant Energy Plant near West Pittsburgh. Unconfirmed reports had several individuals clinging to tree branches in the river and one victim unconscious on the bank. Neshannock Fire and Rescue and the New Castle Fire Department arrived upriver to deploy their rescue boats. Taylor Township Fire Department set up their command center and EMS personnel staged on the property of the Reliant Energy power plant. After nearly two hours, the four individuals were rescued and treated by medical personnel at the scene. The full video is available to "Emergency Personnel" only.
