03/16/09 Route 422 Pulaski Twp Truck Fire and Separate Crash

03/16/09  Around 1:30 this afternoon, a pickup truck fire on Route 422 in Pulaski Township, Lawrence County, may have inadvertently led to a truck crash near the scene. According to Chief James Morris of the Southwest Lawrence Regional Police Department, the driver of a semi-truck had pulled to the right berm of the highway to render assistance to the occupants of the burning pickup truck. A truck following behind the semi did not stop in time and crashed into the rear of the truck. One driver at the scene was evaluated by medical personnel  but did not require treatment. Mahoning Township Fire Department assisted Pulaski Township Fire Department in putting out the truck fire. Union Township Police assisted in traffic control permitting east and westbound vehicles vehicles to pass alternately.
