Fire broke out in a home in the 1900 block of Route 956 Wilmington Township, Lawrence County around 10 PM last night (01/23/2018). A man and a woman, said to be in their sixties,, escaped the flames along with their dog. When fire men arrived, the was house was totally in flames. There are no hydrants in the area so tanker trucks from a half dozen departments had to haul water to the scene. The house was totally destroyed, The victims saving almost nothing but their lives. According to the brother of the victims, he said that the fire started in the chimney area and thatís the way the initial call came over the scanner. At least one vehicle was destroyed and a nearby pontoon boat was also damaged. Route 956 was closed to traffic the whole time.
